Business Communications

The module is designed to provide students with the understanding of ways to conduct business communication. It introduces the topics including Interpersonal Communication, Delivering Effective Messages, Researching, Proposing, Reporting and Presenting in the Business communications.

Operations Management

This module provides an understanding of the processes involved in manufacturing industries and service sector and includes a substantial module on designing and managing operations, inventory management, short term planning, and quality management. The module focuses on the relation of systems and technologies to the strategic direction for manufacturing operations and the function of operations planning.

Principles of Project Management

The module is designed to provide students with the baseline knowledge of the tools and techniques required to manage projects. The course follows the methodology of managing projects as recommended by the Project Management Institute, (PMI). The topics cover all of the project management knowledge areas, in addition to the tools and techniques that are used for managing projects successfully.

Project Planning, Scope and Quality Management

The module is designed to provide students with the understanding of the project management processes as they relate to the scope and quality management. These processes are reviewed in detail, including the development of the scope statement and the quality assurance plan. Techniques for controlling scope changes and overall project quality are discussed. Tools such as the Project Charter, Work Breakdown Structure, Quality Checklist, and Audits are discussed and used in detail.




Project Resource Procurement and Cost Management

This module is designed to provide students with a detailed understanding of the tools and techniques required to procure goods and services for projects. It will introduce students to the methodology of purchasing goods and services from both the buyer and seller’s perspective. The topics cover all of the processes from the requirement stage to contract closeout and include the integration of an end-to-end methodological process for procuring goods and services for projects.

The module also focuses on managing these activities in order to complete the procurement of goods and services for the project successfully. This module will also focus on Project Cost Management which involves the formulating, estimating, evaluating and documenting of project economic outcomes in order to provide learners with the required theoretical underpinning and application of the principles of project costing and financing. Project Cost Management includes assessing and choosing the right project mix using capital budgeting structures, cash flow analysis; time value of money and other quantitative criteria.

Project Scheduling and Risk Management

This module is designed to provide students with learning the processes for project scheduling and responding to risks. Students explore the impact of scope, time, cost and quality goals on schedules, budgets, and risk management. Students create schedules, project budgets, risk responses and contingency plans for projects from different sectors of the economy.

Project Integration Management

This module is designed to provide students with learning the processes and activities used to identify, define, combine, unify, and coordinate the various processes and project management activities across the life cycle of a project. Project management integration includes unification, consolidation, communication, and integrative actions that draw upon the project management knowledge groups and practices, which make up the framework of structured project management methodology.




Project Stakeholders Engagement

This module is designed to provide students with a significant understanding of the principles and practices of managing different stakeholders. Students will develop understanding of how to identify and address stakeholder interests and how to manage their engagement effectively. Students will also learn how to manage efficient communication among the stakeholders.




Software for Project Management

The module is designed to provide students with essential software skills to aid project planning, documentation, and communication required to execute a project. Students use a variety of computer application software to support business decisions made within a project. Students become proficient in using project application software to plan, create, organize, analyze, and format projects. Students learn the skills to create professional presentations, well formatted business documents, accurate and professional workbooks as well as detailed and precise project files.
